Valley of Glaciers Trek
Unknown to many is Langtang National Park’s spectacular Langtang Valley trek, boasting incredible beauty that is easily reachable from Kathmandu, Nepal, and is relatively straightforward. Although this trek offers many attractive qualities, it remains relatively unknown and offers a peaceful experience with few crowds. Along its path are remote villages hidden in the landscape, expansive terraced mountains, and deep gorges – an experience sure to charm. The trek offers an unforgettable journey through pasturelands populated with grazing yaks, verdant forests, and snow-covered glaciers, providing an overview of all three climate zones found within this valley. Moving along the riverbanks, this trek ascends steadily through oak and rhododendron forests to alpine meadows and high-altitude pastures before eventually arriving at Kyanjin Gompa (3,860 meters). From there, various day trek options provide opportunities for further discovery. Langtang Valley, home to just under 1000 residents, was devastated by the 2015 earthquake but has been steadily rebuilt after suffering further destruction by an avalanche. Home to an abundance of plant and animal life – including several endangered species such as Himalayan red pandas, pikas, and black bears – Langtang Valley provides an unforgettable blend of natural beauty and cultural riches within an attractive travel package that provides plenty of unforgettable experiences in a short period. Venture off-path treks into Langtang Valley for rewarding moments of solitude amongst the majestic Nepal Himalayas mountains.
