As always, the team at Trekup India is excited and fully prepared for the upcoming season of the iconic Hampta Pass Trek 2026. To ensure smooth and safe operations for all our valuable trekkers, the Trekup India management team conducted a pre-reconnaissance visit to the trek region on 16th May 2026.

Based on the latest ground assessment and discussions with local authorities, below are the important operational updates for the upcoming Hampta Pass batches.

Hampta Pass Accessibility – May 2026 Update

Due to heavy snowfall on the pass section and around Shea Goru, the local Police Department is currently prioritizing safety and restricting movement beyond Chika Campsite.

As per the latest instructions from the authorities:

  • Movement beyond Chika Campsite is currently not permitted.
  • Camping permissions are not being granted for Balu Ka Ghera at present.
  • Temporary camping is being allowed only till Jawar Campsite, which is approximately 2 km ahead of Chika Campsite.

The administration is continuously monitoring snow conditions and weather patterns before allowing further movement towards the pass.

Chandratal Lake Accessibility Update for EARLY JUNE

Trekkers planning to visit Chandratal Lake after the trek should note that permits for visiting the lake are currently not being issued.

As per the latest departmental updates, accessibility and permits for Chandratal Lake are expected to open around mid-June 2026, subject to road clearance and weather conditions.
