The Vishkhopri Trek takes you to an idyllic meadow at an elevation of 3610 meters in Supin Valley in Uttarakhand’s Western Garhwal region of the Himalayas. Offering something different than more popular routes, this trek captivates its visitors with an aura of mystery and charm, making it one of the area’s hidden treasures. At the confluence of the Supin and Guggal Gad rivers lies this expansive meadow adorned with vibrant flowers that create an idyllic scene reminiscent of a fairytale. Situated near majestic mountains completes this magical setting. The Vishkhopri Trek takes place through dense forests teeming with varied flora and fauna such as Pines, Oaks, Rhododendrons, Walnuts, as well as rare Himalayan bird species such as Pines. Running parallel with Dev Kyara Trek – another lesser-known path – this trek is suitable for novice as well as seasoned trekkers, making May, June, September, or October ideal times to embark on it. Day 1: Dehardun to Sankri drive
Start your journey in Sankri! Using our transportation service, we will arrange for a vehicle to pick you up in Dehradun and drive over 210 km in approximately 7-8 hours to Sankri. On arrival, check in at one of the hotels or guesthouses there and spend an unforgettable night!
Day 2: Sankri to Jakhol (2200 m) – 19 km Drive. Jakhol to Liwari (2750 m) – 8 km Trek
Our journey begins with an unforgettable drive from Sankri to Jakhol, the final settlement in the beautiful Supin Valley. Once there, we’ll start trekking along the Supin River until reaching Pithari village – home of charming wooden dwellings, where traditional tent camping awaits us for the night under the stars.
Day 3: Liwari to Surmola Thach (3460 m)
As we trek from Liwwari through potato fields, pine and deodar trees, and thick forest, our destination will be Surmola Thatch, which will take 10 km of trek, where we will camp out for the night in tents.
Day 4: Surmola Thach to Vishkhopri (3600 m) – 9 km
Today, you’ll begin by climbing steeply through lush grassy fields and flower-adorned mountains, before descending into Vishkhopri where the Supin and Guggal gad rivers meet to form a picturesque meadow adorned with beautiful flowers – spend tonight camping out here!
Day 5: Vishkhopri to Surmola Thach
Today will be a 9 km trek, returning to Surmola Thatch and setting up camp for the night.
Day 6: Surmola Thatch to Liwari
Back at Liwari, a total of 10 km trek, we set up camp and spent the night.
Day 7: Liwari to Jakhol – 8 hrs Trek. Jakhol to Sankri – Dirve
Once we arrive back in Jakhol, our vehicles will transport you directly to Sankri, where you will stay overnight at either a hotel or a guesthouse.
Day 8: Depart from Sankri
Drive from Sankri base camp to Dehradun – 210 km drive, you will reach back to Dehradun around evening.
Spring (April-June) and Autumn (September-November): Perfect conditions, lush greenery, wildflowers, and clear mountain views–these seasons make trekking an enjoyable adventure. In December to March, there are snow-laden treks only suitable for experienced trekkers with snow equipment, while the monsoon season (July to August) brings heavy rainfall that causes slippery roads as well as potential landslides.
By Air: Take a flight to Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun).
By Road: Journey by bus or taxi to Sankri, Drive for approximately 210km towards Sankri (7-8 hours).
By Train: By rail, nearby stations include Dehradun and Rishikesh.
