Nainital is the most ideal place to venture, such as Naini Lake where you get to do boating and it offers lush green sights which give a picturesque view of the Himalayan range. Pangot is an awe-inspiring heaven well known for its forest and birds, it is near Nainital. It is a very quiet and calm place which people usually prefer, and there are a number of activities done in this place such as bird watching, trekking, mountain biking, and other adventure activities. Day Wise Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Kathgodam (1483 Ft.) to Mukteshwar (7500 Ft.) by by surface 60 Kms approx 2-3 Hrs

We will begin our tour by arriving in Kathgodam by our own means, there are several options available like bus, train or by road. We will then meet the Trekup India team member/driver who will escort us to our vehicle and soon after we will begin our road journey from Kathgodam to Mukteshwar. We will be driving through scenic views of the Himalayan Mountain range; throughout the route, we will see green forests. We will first be passing through Ranibagh village which is a small hamlet, then you will be driving on the road with twists and turns. You will then arrive at Bhimtal where there is an exquisite green lake and it is named after Bhima, the mythological character of the Mahabharata. From then on we will see the Forest of Oak and soon be at Mukteshwar. As soon as we arrive at Mukteshwar, the scenic view will captivate us. You can also see the 2nd highest peak in India, Nanda Devi from here. Check into the booked accommodation, rest of the time for relaxation.

Wake up to a beautiful Himalayan morning and enjoy the delicious Breakfast at the accommodation, thereafter we will proceed to explore Mukteshwar, we will be first visiting  Mukteshwar Dham, which is also known as Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple. We would have to walk a little bit to reach the temple, which is at the top, there are stone stairs that lead to the temple. There is a local belief that lord Shiva had killed a demon here and then granted him salvation (Mukti), which is why the name Mukteshwar. The next place you would be visiting is Chauli Ki Jali, it is on a cliff right behind Mukteshwar Temple. From there we would be catching the mesmerizing view of the Himalayan range along with Kumaon Valley when you are at the edge of the cliff. As per Hindu mythology, here a fierce battle took place between the goddess and demon. You could see the trunk of an elephant, a shield, and an outline of the sword which serves as a testimonial to the battle. We would visit Bhalu Gaad Falls, a mixture of horseshoe and plunge-shaped waterfalls. It is a 60-foot-high waterfall, which is crystal clear throughout but changes color in the rainy season when the water flow increases. Now we will be visiting Mukteshwar Inspection Bungalow which is the most famous attraction of the hill station. It is on record that famous British hunter Jim Corbett spent a lot of time here planning to hunt a tiger. People can also avail of the lodging facility here. Next, we will be seeing the hidden treasure of Kumaon, Dhokaney Waterfall which is a picturesque waterfall in the midst of pine trees. It is only a short distance from Mukteshwar but is a perfect place to bathe in the shade of rustling conifers. We would then return to our hotel and spend the night there.

We would wake up to the birds chirping, then have a delicious breakfast and get ready for today’s journey. We will be driving from Mukteshwar to Kausani, the first place we will be visiting is Anasakti Ashram,  also known as Gandhi Ashram, it was built in such a way that whoever comes will have mental peace here. Thereafter we will visit to Kausani Tea Estate, enjoy leisure walks in the Tea Gardens,  later visit the famous Baijnath Temple, which is a religious and ancient temple. You’ll be fascinated by the architecture of the temple built in the 12th century to worship Shiva and Parvati. Visit the naturally hidden attraction Rudradhari Falls and Caves which is surrounded by terraced paddy fields. We could see a lot of ancient caves near the waterfall, surrounded by awe-inspiring lush green hill farms, and pine trees. Rudradhari Mahadev Temple is a historical cave temple located close to Rudhari Falls. It offers a great soothing and calm environment to relax in the deep dense forest. The last trip today will be to Stargate Observatory Kausani where we can observe the stars. We could also see the Moon, planets, galaxies, and star clusters through the telescope there. We would then return to our hotel and rest for the remainder of the evening.

Another Himalayan morning awaits to greet you with its blissful morning,  driving towards Ranikhet first we will visit Chaubatia Gardens, which is known for its peaches, apples, apricots, and other orchids. Now that we have explored the orchids, We will also visit Haidakhan Temple, which is dedicated to Haidakhan Babaji / Bhole Baba who is believed to be the reincarnation of Lord Shiva. We would be able to see the peaks of the Himalayas that are covered in snow, like Panchchuli, Nandadevi, and Chaukhamba. Thereafter we will drive back to the booked accommodation, rest of the evening at leisure.

Today you will be exploring Ranikhet to the fullest and you will begin with Jhula Devi Temple, a famous temple in Ranikhet, goddess Durga is prayed to in this temple. The devotees who come to this temple have a strong belief that their wishes will come true if they pray at this temple. The next place to go to is Rani Jheel which is an idyllic lake surrounded by greenery. We can also enjoy boating here; it is a man-made lake for rainwater harvesting. Once we are done boating and exploring in Rani Jheel, we will then be taken to the next place, which is Bhalu Dam. It is a small dam which is surrounded by forest, there is also a small lake close to the dam. This is an old bridge designed by British architects built in the 1800s. Tarikhet Village is small yet it’s a beautiful hill station which is located at a distance of 8 km from Ranikhet. The village is very famous as it was a site during India’s struggle for Independence. The main attraction is ‘Gandhi Kutiya’, which is believed that Mahatma Gandhi stayed here for a long time during the freedom struggle. Afterward, we will be dropped back at the hotel in the late evening where we could take the rest for the night.

We will begin our trip with a short drive from Ranikhet to Nainital, a Enroute stop for Mall Road Exploration of Nanital, you can also choose to enjoy boating at the beautiful lake (On direct pay), Thereafter we would be driving to Pangot which is the next place we would be traveling to Pangot and Kilbury Bird Sanctuary, which is a forest area covered with Pine, Oak, and Rhododendron trees. In addition to the trees found in the Nainital Reserve forest, there are other species. There are at least 580 bird species in this sanctuary including Himalayan Griffon, Lammergeier, Spotted & Slaty-backed forktail, Blue-winged minla, Brown wood owls, Himalayan Bulbul, Dollarbird and Rufous-bellied Woodpecker. We could see some mammals as well here like leopards, Yellow-throated Himalayan martens, Barking deer, Himalayan Palm civets, Ghirals, and Sambar. Eco Cave Garden, there are several caves that are naturally interconnected and were used by animals. Himalaya Darshan Point is a viewpoint located in Nainital and it is an altitude of 6562 feet. From this viewpoint, you will be mesmerized by the spectacular views of various famous Himalayan peaks, with lush green hills and valleys around. Naina Peak has another name which is ChinaPeak, it is the highest peak in the town and at an altitude of 8566 feet. You would be seeing the snow-covered Himalayan mountains like the Bandarpunch, Api, and Nari peaks of Nepal along with the view of Nainital. Naina Devi Jalkund is also one of the places we would be visiting, which is a very beautiful lake. The natural vistas of the Himalayan range are an addition to the beauty of the lake, it is a lake made by the forest department, and it was constructed to promote eco-tourism. We will then be returning to our hotel and spending the rest of the night.

Best Time For the Trip

 

  • Mukteshwar boasts pleasant weather year-round. The ideal time to visit is during the summer months of March to May, with warm days and cool nights averaging a maximum temperature of 27°C. Winter, from November to February, offers cool days and nights, with temperatures ranging from 18-25°C, occasionally featuring snowfall in January and February.

  • In Kausani, the picturesque views are best enjoyed during the summer season from March to June, with temperatures ranging between 15°C to 27°C. Autumn and winter also offer enjoyable visits, albeit with chillier air. Clear days provide an opportunity to admire the panoramic Himalayan Mountain ranges, visible from 360° during daylight hours.

  • Nanital – Nanital can be visited all year round, but the most preferred time would be between the months of March to June, which is the summer season, and in the winter season from October to January. You would be able to enjoy the scenic views of the lake and the surrounding area during these two seasons: Summer and Winter.

  • Pangot – Like other places in Uttarakhand, it can be visited throughout the year. Winter season is between the months of October to March, days are warm and crisp but at night it gets a little cold. During this season you would get to watch birds and see the picturesque mountains. December, January, and February are the best months for seeing snowfall. In the summer season in the months of April to June days are cool and night becomes pleasant. It is also a good time for bird watching. The monsoon season from July to September also remains cold during the day with soothing nights.
