Chadar Trekking in Ladakh is an unforgettable experience, offering stunning views of the Himalayan Mountains and an awe-inspiring Zanskar River that can range from white or transparent, giving way to thick ice sheets that give an illusion of walking on water. However, Chadar Trek can be challenging due to extreme cold temperatures (down to -30degC) and needing to master the art of navigating its icy terrain - yet its beauty makes this challenging journey rewarding and worth the journey itself.

Mountains can be full of unexpected surprises; hiking paths often appear and then disappear quickly, forcing hikers off course, crossing frigid rivers or traversing rough terrain with no prior warning can be disorienting and unexpected. Our environment can be unpredictable, Chadar Ice Sheet isn't static - its forms shift constantly making your Chadar trails ever changing which adds excitement as you discover nature.

Even the best footwear cannot guarantee that there will be no ice, making it hard to maintain balance and keeping you upright. But with patience and practice one can learn to overcome discomfort; and enjoy an unrivalled sense of accomplishment as a result.

Food, drinks and contact lenses all become frozen solid when temperatures reach extreme levels, leaving you feeling cold in every pore of your body and slowing your movements. Should Chadar Ice Sheet break apart into pieces you might even have to brave an extremely icy river plunge.

Chadar Frozen River Trek involves entering uncharted territory and dealing with unpredictable situations.
